About

Welcome to my personal web page

I was born in 1982 in Czechoslovakia (Czechia now) and I still live here. For the first time I met an UNIX-like system in the second half of 1990s when I downloaded Minix 2.0 in the local public library (I did not have Internet at home at that time) and installed it on my 286-clone computer. I immediately fell in love because it was for the first time I saw a source code any operating system and even more - I was even able to modify it, rebuild it and see it running with my changes. Then I got an i386 machine so I started experimenting with GNU/Linux and FreeBSD. In 2000 I bought a second-hand SPARCstation IPX with 32MB of RAM and a fancy Trinitron colour monitor for money I earned over my summer job. It came with Solaris 2.6 but I downgraded it soon to SunOS 4.1.4 mainly because there was no C compiler bundled with Solaris and I did not know how to get the GCC. I am an UNIX user, fan, and developer since that.

I am a retro computing fan so I am trying to keep my web site compatible with Netscape Navigator 4.x and similar browsers.
